Well...I just got home from the show, and what can I say? First off...it was absolutely fantastic to see and hear Marc, Berry, Chris, & Gootch play again. I was immediately reminded of what I enjoy of the music and the bandmembers themselves.
So, the energy in the room was one of reunion and an overall feeling of rejoice. The hometown "family" was able to get together and share the moment once again....thankfully and gratefully so. God! I love these people.
Now as far as the music itself is concerned, I'd have to say that they weren't necessarily as tight as I've seen them before and not as energetic, but the chemistry of the band was still present and there were certainly highlights. Take "Smoke Signals" and "Feels Like Doin' Time", for instance. Marc's solo in "Smoke Signals" was stellar and moving; one to put any doubts to shame. And then in "Feels Like Doin' Time", everybody got a chance to shine, including Berry. Marc was awesome, of course; Gootch was eye-popping with a demanding control of the snare; Berry was straight ahead with a twisting melody at the end; and Chris pulled something out of the stratosphere that even surprised him.
In the end, the joyous celebration finally had to end, yet we all talked about the upcoming show on Saturday. How cool is that?!?!?!?!? Two shows inside of a week!!!! Life couldn't be any better! [bodenzord]
