We were early, so we saw them arrive in a rather small van - 6 people: Marc, Elijah, Muddy, Dennis and the tour manager with his girlfriend (?) AND all the equipment! No roadies or technicians, strictly do-it-yourself!

... and there were some problems: a radio station coming through the Orange amp, blown tubes, communication problems with the mixing guy, then Marc got shocked by his mic - I KNOW it's not funny to be electrocuted by your microphone, BUT! the way he said over and over again "it shocked me" with a completely unbelieving face and sent Muddy and Elijah up front to test it, finally they put some isolation (foam, I don't know the English word) on it, even then he gave it a really suspicious look..

Well, imagine a singer who doesn't DARE come close to his mic - that was almost comedy. After most problems were solved they went out for dinner, and we were a little afraid that their mood wouldn't be too good because of all the shit.

But when they came on stage everything was just smiles all around. The 1st set was a little laid back and short, the really remarkable thing was Marc annoucing "1000 Ways" as something "Elijah started, I finished it, now it's ours" which was a first as far as I've heard. The 2nd set started with a looong Same On Me - Vampire Blues - Shame On Me and got hotter every minute, even when the radio station started to come through again they could hardly surpress their laughter - Muddy didn't succeed at all, he almost had a fit! ... and it ended with a smoking Suzie Bye Bye. The encore wasn't an encore at all but a 3rd set, it went on and on and on, they seemed to play themselves into a frenzy and just didn't remember how to stop - even the drunks which were let in by then couldn't do any harm although they tried very hard!

Afterwards they stayed around chatting and signing everything that was thrown their way, packed their things - and came back for a cafe latte -> that's what Muddy asked me to get for them :)

All in all it was absolutely worth the trip and the 6 hours waiting for the first train back home, the tightest show of the year so far. Marc seems absolutely comfortable with what he is doing and the people he's doing it with, so watch out for this band!
